One of the easiest things you can do for your child’s health is to make sure they receive vaccinations to prevent illnesses like the chicken pox and measles. Vaccines trigger your child’s natural defenses which create antibodies to fight the bacteria or virus. They are designed to prepare the immune system to protect against the disease. The small amount of virus that vaccines contain is very weak.
It is important that your child receive vaccinations on time in order to prevent illness. Your healthcare team will help you understand each vaccine your child receives.
Vaccines are very safe. Below is a list of all the vaccines your child may receive.
HepB: The HepB vaccine protects your child against Hepatitis B, which can lead to chronic liver infection, liver failure and liver cancer. Your child will receive two more doses of this vaccine during his/her first six months.
