Patient Representative - Family Medicine (Full-Time)

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Patient Representative is responsible for the friendly and professional greeting of our patients as the face of Eastern Iowa Health Center. This position will provide efficient and accurate scheduling, front desk reception, copay collection, and other administrative duties including obtaining required demographic information, photo ID, insurance cards, and any additional necessary paperwork. This position is also responsible for qualifying patients for the sliding fee scale and providing insurance applications. As a vital member of the EIHC team, this role will recognize and promote the cultural diversity of the patients we serve and the people we work with.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalency; required.
  • Basic computer skills required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Cash handling experience preferred.
  • One year receptionist in a medical facility or public contact position preferred.
  • One year call center experience preferred.

  • Demonstrate exceptional multitasking and time management and the ability to work proactively and independently.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation appropriately and ethically.
  • Ability to discuss financial requirements, including explanation of insurance coverages, the sliding fee program, requests for payment, and establish payment arrangements.
  • Ability to negotiate skillfully and diplomatically with patients and members of the public.
  • Exhibit a willingness to cooperate across departmental teams to accomplish organizational objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and to understand and follow verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports and correspondence.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the Center.
  • Must be able to effectively utilize relevant medical care equipment.

COMPENSATION:

$12.50 to $18.00 hourly
