Clinic Lead (Full-Time)

Eastern Iowa Health Center (EIHC) has an exciting internal opening for a Clinical Lead at our family medicine/pediatric location. The Clinical Lead collaborates with the Operations Manager to oversee orientation training of new staff and daily direction of clinic staffing needs including but not limited to nursing, CMA, lab, and patient services. The acting clinical lead will provide support that enables the actualization of EIHC’s clinic goals to provide top quality, effective, and efficient medical care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership within the clinic and serve as a front-line point of contact for clinical staff.
  • Assist with clinic schedule, including daily/weekly for providers and clinical staff.
  • Verify that staff is shifted to meet the needs of the providers in clinic.
  • Verify that if patient appointment is being moved the patient is still able to receive the healthcare that is needed instead of being rescheduled or refused care.
  • Communicate between front desk, clinical staff, provider and operations manager for simple transitions while increasing open communication between the roles.
  • Be aware of the patient flow in clinic by actively checking in with providers and staff and watching EHR schedules and buckets.
  • Answer Daily Operational Questions for staff, patients and providers.  Assist with escalating questions to other resources as needed. 
  • Engage in solution finding for concerns that are presented by patients, staff or administration.
  • Provide constructive feedback for peers with active engagement of suggestions and education in the moment.
  • Engage in positive training/competency/ simulation experiences for current staff.
  • Be a proactive “help all” to the entire department.
  • Abide by all duties and responsibilities as outlined in RN, LPN or CMA job description.

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN/LPN license or CMA Certificate recognized by the State of Iowa & in good standing
  • Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers Certification (BLS)
  • Computer literacy: able to perform basic functions on a computer, including Electronic Medical Record and Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be employed with EIHC for a minimum of 6 months.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a family medicine clinic
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Phlebotomy skills
  • Experience with Athena EMR
  • Bilingual in any language
